Application architecture
Laravel provides the server-side application structure while React and Inertia support a responsive member-facing experience.
case study / web application
A full-stack social platform used as a substantial application-development project, with relational data, authentication, member-facing features and an iterative Laravel/React architecture.
01 / overview
The project goes beyond a brochure site: users, content, relationships, permissions and application state all have to work together. That makes the architecture and database model part of the product rather than implementation details.
02 / engineering focus
Laravel provides the server-side application structure while React and Inertia support a responsive member-facing experience.
Features are modelled around persistent relationships and queryable data, keeping the application suitable for reporting and future feature work.
Authentication, authorization, validation and protected application flows are treated as core feature requirements.
Development is managed through Git with incremental changes, testing and review rather than treating the application as a single release.
03 / what it demonstrates
Most importantly, this project demonstrates the ability to work across the boundaries between database design, back-end application logic and front-end behaviour rather than specialising in only one layer.
